As Smitty says, it is quite a compliment to be asked to be a referee, especially in something as important as preparations for the Soap Box Derby. But Joey soon finds that when it means keeping the peace between the Cherry Pips and the Marple Marvels it is a tricky job he has on hand.

So he is not sorry when things take an unexpected turn and he finds himself playing a much more active part in the great race.

Red boards, black lettering and logo front board; 122pp; b/w frontispiece and 9 full-page illustrations.

Other Editions:
I seem to remember it appearing as a serial back in the late 1950s - in a Scout magazine or similar. But I might be imagining that.

The Children's Film Foundation did a film: Soap Box Derby - written by Robert Martin - It was not a film from the book but there are obvious similarities which link them.
