How did Enrico Puncillo, the puppeteer, meet his death - and why ?
Though Michael and Jim Dance are concerned over the matter they feel, amateur detectives though they be, that this is no case for them - until little Wendy disappears. Wendy, whom a great shock has deprived of the power of speech, loves puppets . . . . Perhaps her kidnapping has some connection with Enrico's death, but in any case she must be found.

Whether they like it or not, Dance and Co. are plunged deep into a new mystery, the mystery of the poisoned puppet.
