It's a funny thing how 'detectiving' seems to come to Mike and Jim Dance even when they are not looking for it. Who would have imagined that a chance stop in a Sussex lane to repair a motor bike and a momentary meeting with a T.V. personality could once again involve them - with Jim's friend Birdie - in police business.

But Carvel Knight is Birdie's hero and could anyone stand aside and see his hero in danger without doing a little investigation of his own ?
